It all started when my friend’s cat ran out and was mated with the neighbor’s cat… She gave birth to a litter of kittens, but my friend had no intention of raising them. So my friend posted on WeChat Moments that she wanted to give them away. When I saw the photos, the first thing I noticed was her. In the photo, which was the first time I saw her, the one with white paws in the middle was her. She looked small, helpless, and pitiful. Since I hoped she would grow up chubby and strong like a ball, I named her Wanzi.
When she was one – and – a – half months old, her original owner really had no energy to take care of the kittens. So I took her home while she was still nursing. When I went to pick her up, I found that her temperament was completely different from what was shown in the photo! She was a total “photo – fraud”! She was extremely fierce, naughty, and food – protective. She was so possessive of food that she even fought with her own mother and bullied her siblings. She was the most active one. However, at that time, I thought that being lively meant she was in good health, so I still took her home. This was the moment I just brought her home. Her pitiful look was all an act!!

After coming home, on the first night, she meowed wildly, making all kinds of noises. As long as she couldn’t see anyone, she would meow. Later, she meowed so much that she could hardly walk steadily and her voice became hoarse. She would only be obedient when someone held her. I felt extremely heart – broken.
Since it was my first time raising a cat and I had no experience, whenever I had a problem, I would directly ask my friend who is a veterinarian. When I first brought Wanzi back, she had fleas on her body. So I bought some deworming medicine from my friend. I didn’t know which ones to buy, so I asked him to prepare a set for me. He gave me a big pack of medicine and said it would be enough for me to use for a year. Then I took the amitraz solution from it and gave her a medicated bath according to the instructions. I never thought that thing would be toxic… Because she was too small to wear an Elizabethan collar. After drying her off after the bath, I put her on the sofa and then went to take a shower myself.
When I came out of the shower and saw her, I knew something was wrong. She was lying there, rolling her eyes and not moving at all. I pushed her, and she barely opened her eyelids to look at me. She couldn’t even lift her head. At that time, I thought she had caught a cold from the bath. I immediately found a bunch of soft blankets to wrap her up. When I got up to get something, she thought I was leaving. She struggled to get up and follow me, but she couldn’t walk steadily and kept leaning to one side. Then, very sensibly, she struggled to crawl to her litter box to vomit! However, she probably didn’t have the strength anymore, so she didn’t climb up the steps into the litter box and vomited at the entrance. She really vomited violently. I had never seen such a scene before and panicked immediately. I messaged my friend right away to ask him. He said she might be poisoned. But it was already very late at that time, and all the pet hospitals were closed. He told me to take Wanzi to him first thing in the morning.
I was so scared that I was on the verge of crying. I held her in my arms all night without sleeping, staying with her. Whenever she stopped moving, I had to check if she was still breathing. After a night of fear, I took a leave of absence early the next morning and took her to the hospital. When we got to the hospital, the doctor examined her and said she was okay. Maybe she had vomited and urinated out the toxins… The doctor prescribed some nutritional paste and let me take her back… People say Dragon Li cats are easy to raise…
