My Experience with Three Cats: Why I Recommend British Shorthairs

I have three cats. The first one is a Bengal cat (already sent back to the countryside), the second one is a Blue and White British Shorthair, and the third one is a Ragdoll. As someone who has raised these three cats, my advice is to consider raising a British Shorthair.

The following is just my personal experience of raising cats. Each cat has a different personality, so please read according to your needs.

The cat that gave me the most headaches ———————————— the Bengal cat ⊙﹏⊙. It almost made me quit being a cat owner.

Influenced by my boyfriend, I wanted an active cat that could interact with me. Coincidentally, a friend’s cat had a litter. So I decided to raise one.

On the first day it arrived home, it was about two months old and came alone. It meowed continuously for five days. Almost every time it woke up, it would meow. Those five days… I was completely exhausted… No matter how much I comforted it, it was useless. In the end, its throat became hoarse, but it still meowed…

After that, it started to tear up the house. My curtain rods were broken three times, a tuocha tea cake more than ten years old was torn apart… and there were countless torn window screens, sofas, books and so on…

I could tolerate it tearing up the house, but after raising it for more than half a year, I found that this ungrateful cat was still full of bad habits. It would bite if I touched it. Sometimes it would even rush over and bite me when I ignored it.

Finally, because I couldn’t bear its tearing up the house anymore, I sent it back to the countryside to let it play freely in the big house there. It is said that now it is carefree, climbing up and down the walls and having a great time (Sorry, my small apartment in the big city couldn’t accommodate it…)

My favorite cat —————— the Blue and White British Shorthair

Firstly, in terms of price, British Shorthairs are relatively affordable nowadays. Secondly, considering their personalities, British Shorthairs are generally recognized as having good temperaments and being quiet (they hardly meow).

British Shorthairs have a nickname, “Fat Otaku”. They won’t move if they don’t have to and will do anything for food.

British Shorthairs also have different personalities. My boyfriend used to raise a Blue British Shorthair. It was also very quiet but not very clingy. It would just do its own thing. You had to hold it tightly to pet it. When I heard my boyfriend say that at that time, I thought the Blue British Shorthair was too lazy and didn’t interact much with others (later I realized I was wrong and really liked it).

Now my little Blue and White British Shorthair is really a sweetie. Besides being a huge eater and looking a bit silly, it never gets angry no matter how much you pet it.
