I have raised two tabby cats. They are so smart that sometimes I wonder if they were a human in their previous life. They have some human abilities, which is not an exaggeration. One is named Xiaowei and the other is Huniu. They are both younger brothers. Xiaowei is smarter. I am sure someone has seen a cat that can open the door by itself. I mean a cat that can jump up and press the lock to open the door, not a simple push. But, have you ever seen a cat open the faucet? I guess it is rare, right? There is something even more amazing. In order to eat beef jerky, this cat I raised actually sat on the coffee table in my house, holding a large plastic jar of beef jerky in one hand and twisting the lid with the other hand. He opened the jar, grabbed the beef jerky, tore off the plastic skin, and ate the beef jerky. It’s amazing! The key is that he also knows how to hide part of it.

Beef jerky is my favorite snack. After buying the big bag, I will open the big package and put the small packages into the big jar. When I eat, I will give Xiaowei one strip and we will eat together. Oh, he likes it so much that one strip is not enough. But the beef jerky is too salty and I am afraid it is not good for the cat to eat too much. So, no matter how he calls me, I will not give him a second strip. I often hold the plastic jar in front of him, unscrew the lid and give him one strip. I will also eat it. After that, I will cover it and put it on the coffee table. I did this every day for about a few months.

The first time I came back from work, I found that the lid of the plastic jar was broken. It was opened, I thought I didn’t cover the lid, so I didn’t pay much attention to it. Later, it happened again, and the meat strips were obviously less. When I asked my family, they said it had never been opened. I thought I made a mistake and didn’t think too much about it. Later, I found torn small bags of beef jerky on the corners of the table and behind the sofa, beef jerky with teeth marks, anyway, beef jerky in various postures. Then I knew about the plastic can incident and Xiao Wei was the culprit!

So, every day after eating beef jerky, I started to put it in the refrigerator. On weekends, after eating snacks, I put the beef jerky on the coffee table and lay on the sofa to watch TV. Then a magical thing happened. I saw Xiao Wei jump on the table first. He smelled it, and then sat down slowly in front of the jar, not lying down! He never got on the coffee table in the past, so I was ready to scare him, but also a little curious, so I watched what he wanted to do. He smelled it first, and then held the jar with both hands, one paw (let’s call it a paw, don’t get it wrong) holding the plastic jar body, and one paw (of course with his short legs) holding the lid of the plastic jar.

Magical things began to happen, and I found that he was actually trying to open the lid. I was so surprised that I suddenly sat up from the sofa, and scared him so much that he ran away.
