Sharing some of my own experiences of raising a ragdoll (1)
I will answer for my son. He sheds hair, but I don’t regret it. After all, he looks like this. . .
Sharing some of my own tips on raising a ragdoll:
Don’t raise a ragdoll if you are allergic to cat hair. You can’t stand it, but he is completely dependent on his owner.
I found out that I was allergic to cat hair after I got a cat. I have installed a vacuum cleaner, purifier, and static brush at home, but it’s useless. I am still allergic. The most important thing is that he is clingy. I have to ask my bedroom door to be opened for him. If I don’t open it, he will scratch the door like crazy and bang his head against it. He even hit himself and bled when he lived in a sliding door before. He also recognizes his owner. If I send him to someone else’s home for foster care, he will refuse to eat or drink and hide in a corner.

It may be accidental, but my ragdoll is very difficult to deal with during the estrus period. He is still lustful after being sterilized. . .
Maybe it was because of the harmful videos that were popular on TikTok at that time – let your cat listen to this to have a surprise. I didn’t understand it and often teased it. At that time, I didn’t know that it was the sound of a female cat in heat. Anyway, it was in heat at 8 months old, and it would pee whenever it got the chance. The most frustrating thing was that once I fell asleep, it suddenly rushed over and hugged my feet. I thought it missed its mother and came to hug me, but it ended up peeing on my pants. Later, it was sterilized and it wouldn’t wet the bed, but it would still occasionally pee on the bed I didn’t sleep in. Secondly, I later found that it was thinking about sexual things when it stepped on milk, very speechless.
Regarding the glass stomach, it shouldn’t be inevitable, it may be related to the food.
Since I have raised a cat, I have only experienced soft stools once or twice, and they were not serious. At the beginning, it ate Royal Cat Milk Cake, and later it was changed to Desire and it kept eating. Generally speaking, there was no transition for it when changing cat food. It was just changed to a new one after it finished eating, and it was nothing. Overall, it feels like it occasionally happens when it is young. Then there is one thing I pay more attention to, that is, I rarely give him snacks, and I control the amount of cat food. I usually pour a week’s worth of cat food at a time. He can eat it if he wants to. In between, I will add meat that I cook for him (the simplest way is to buy chicken tenderloin, add some water and microwave it for five minutes, take it out after it cools down a little, pinch and rub it with your hands to spread it out, and then leave it for the cat to eat when he wants to). It feels really easy to raise.
Another small point is that he is very picky about food. If some things are put together with cat food, he will eat them all if he thinks they are delicious, and he will not touch them at all if they are not delicious. Therefore, he will pick and choose when he buys canned staple food, wet food, and cat food. I think cats also have some basic judgment. There is no need to set a fixed time or quantity. Give him some freedom and make him feel comfortable. He can take care of himself.
Ear mites + ringworm + cat tax for medical treatment.
My cat had ear mites when I brought it home from Nanshe, but I didn’t know anything about it. Then the ear mites became more and more serious. It would scratch its ears and pus would flow out. I was busy at that time and didn’t pay attention to it, so it got ringworm, but it was only the size of a small bean. I went to the hospital for various examinations and prescribed medicines. Later, it was cured in a week, but two thousand was almost spent. Later, it was basically not cheap to go to the hospital. Gradually, I found that it seemed that pet cats, especially pet cats with good appearance, were really slaughtered like pigs by the hospital. My friend’s cat didn’t spend so much money to treat the same disease, and it would be cheaper to treat it at home. However, cats sometimes have to go to the hospital. They get diseases that they don’t understand, need to be sterilized, and have accidents, such as chasing insects and biting themselves and getting swollen. Pets are not transparent when they go to the hospital (people are not transparent when they go to the hospital either). Not having loose stools is already a blessing for me.
