A Border Collie, now a smart one (3)
[21] When we are about to go out, no matter how excited she is, as long as we say: “Watch the house”, she will immediately give up and no longer try to follow us.
A carrot
[22] When the phone or timer rings, she will go to call us.
[23] Occasionally, she will lie on her bed and comb her hair with her teeth. At this time, as long as I say: “I’ll help you”, she will turn her head away and let me scratch her. Then I can ask her: “Where else is itchy?” She will change the place to comb. When you reach out your hand, she will avoid it and let you scratch her. Then repeat this process until she is completely comfortable. It’s very interesting.
[24] It is very clear who is the boss. When I eat snacks, I often can’t stand Douding’s request and secretly give her some. If my wife finds out at this time, she just needs to cough lightly and Douding will definitely not dare to eat. Even if I put the snacks in Douding’s mouth, it doesn’t work. She will keep holding it in her mouth… with an extremely aggrieved expression.
No matter how much I emphasize: “It’s okay, you can eat.” Douding was not moved at all. But she would always secretly look at my wife’s expression, hoping to get a positive signal from the real boss.
I think this is amazing, because from childhood to adulthood, it was me who played with Douding, praised her, and criticized and educated her. My wife was only responsible for playing the best and most gentle side in front of Douding. But Douding knew very well who was the real boss behind the scenes…
How should I put it… It can be said that her desire to survive is very strong…
PS: Is this the reason why she abandons me without hesitation and immediately stands on the opposite side every time there is a family quarrel?… Ah… I feel heartbroken again…

[25] I am too lazy to write, otherwise I could write to [999].
8/3/2020 – Update [26] – [30]
Water cushion + wooden sofa = Douding’s summer throne
[26] Knowing the boundaries of the house, toys can be thrown into the yard, and then run back to the room to drink water. Take a break and come back to play. But if a toy falls outside the gate, she will pick it up and put it in the yard before she can drink water.
Guarding the vegetable garden + monitoring the hens
[27] Can drive away birds ~ My mother planted a lot of loofahs and lettuces in the yard, and sparrows often came to destroy them ~ We set up a scarecrow, but it had little effect.
By chance, I pointed at a sparrow in the yard and said: “Bird!” Douding ran to drive it away. And she was quite excited. From then on, as long as a sparrow fell in the yard again, she would take the initiative to drive it away.
If you try to say the keyword “bird”, she will search the yard with a focused expression. After successfully driving away the sparrow, she will wait for your praise with a happy face.
Therefore, I think Douding definitely has the talent to be an airport bird-scaring dog.
[28] Can drive the hens back to the nest ~ During the time I lived in the countryside, I felt that Douding was happier than before ~ There are too many things here that can attract her attention, There is also a larger and freer space for her to play.
Driving away the hens that sneak out of the chicken coop has become one of Douding’s new hobbies. Since we took the lead in showing her twice how to drive the hens back to the chicken coop, Douding quickly mastered this skill and did it faster and better.
Her shepherding skills can finally be demonstrated in driving away birds and hens. It is a particularly surprising and happy thing for me.
As the person who knows her best, I can clearly feel her undistracted concentration when she does these things, and the strong sense of accomplishment after completing the work. The joy brought by this skill that is integrated into the blood and passed down is really quite different. I can really feel that kind of-special charm~
Of course, what breaks my heart is: when the hen is driven away, it will run and poop crazily… Douding was unfortunately stepped on once, and I suppressed my nausea and washed her for a long time~ I hate hens… I hate hens that poop everywhere even more, and I hate hens that poop while running the most. (The hen sobbed… You are the one who ate the most of my eggs! ! !)
3 yuan for a small sandbag ~ Look at that cunning look ~
