Last week, my golden retriever celebrated her fourth birthday. Seeing her grow up, my eyes were wet. I am now 39 weeks pregnant and can’t sleep. I couldn’t help but answer this question.
I am in New Zealand. I was still an international student in early 2016. At night, I was lying at home and browsing my social media. At that time, I had a one-and-a-half-year-old big poodle. Someone in my social media forwarded: “I just bought an eight-week-old golden retriever, but the landlord found out that I couldn’t keep it anymore. I’m in a hurry to sell it, otherwise I will be kicked out tomorrow.” In fact, in the circle of overseas students, abandoning or not being responsible for pets has always been a bad atmosphere. I don’t know what I was thinking at the time, but I felt called by some unknown spirit. At 10 o’clock in the evening, I drove to the seller, a few international students who shared the house. There was also an eight-week-old German Shepherd that was sold together. They begged me to buy both dogs. But I was also an international student at the time, and my family already had a big poodle that could eat and work, so I really couldn’t afford three. I hesitated helplessly, not knowing how to choose. Until I clapped my hands, the little golden retriever shook its tail, turned towards me sleepily, and licked my trouser legs. Just like that, I transferred the money on the spot and took her home.
This is the next morning, the sun is bright and I took her to the vet to get vaccinations and register the microchip. Is she an angel?
This is the way she turned over when she was sleeping at home .
The first time I took her to the beach, she had not yet mastered the swimming skills. She was afraid of water, but she loved running on the beach. It felt like there were stars twinkling in her eyes.
When she was a little older, I took her to be sterilized when she was four months old. Many friends in the dog-raising circle liked her and made an appointment with me for a baby marriage, but because I was still a student at the time, firstly, I couldn’t afford it financially, and secondly, I thought I couldn’t guarantee that I could find a good home for a litter of more than a dozen puppies. So I took her to be sterilized. So there is this picture, a pitiful but brave souvenir. Give her a big bone to comfort her.
About six months later, I could only sit to barely hold her. The speed of her growth is really amazing.

Next, I will show you the experience before she was one and a half years old. The legend is really not a legend. Compared with the big poodle at home, she is really at the level of a demolition team.

4-Thesis shredder (This is the thesis I wrote for three nights, and because it was due, I was very happy and didn’t save it)
5-Shoe shredder
I remember the last time he made a mistake, he bit four or five big holes in the Razer mouse that my husband, who was then my boyfriend, had just bought. His bite force was amazing. Then the punishment in my family was that if she broke something, we would put it on her head and not let her move. So she was threatened by my husband to hold the mouse for the whole afternoon. Since then, suddenly, I don’t know why, I changed a dog. Maybe he was moved by my husband’s grief-stricken affection… He never let go when he went out, never acted stupid when he understood the instructions, never bit and turned things over, and was even more obedient than my poodle brother who was one and a half years older than him.
Here are some pictures of her becoming an archangel after she was one and a half years old
. Later, in 2017, a little schnauzer came to our house. The little schnauzer came to my house for various reasons when she was just six weeks old. She couldn’t even sit up steadily. My golden retriever was self-taught and had a lot of maternal love. She took the job and became her mother.
So the style of my house became like this.
I married my husband last year and moved to my new home. This is the first day I moved into my new home. She sat alone in the yard at sunset. I don’t know what she was thinking.
The city I live in now is not on the coast, but I often take her to swim in the river. When I lived in Auckland before, I took her to the beach to swim almost every day in the summer. Her swimming skills were developed by herself when she was more than two years old (she accidentally ran into the water following the ball).
She swam with me. When she was tired of swimming, she would go ashore to find our bags and clothes and sit quietly. If a passerby approached her, she could keep her eyes straight and wait for me to go ashore. She looked at me splashing in the water obediently and gently (lovingly).
Later, we got a cat named Mimido,
so the family members became like this
. The cat was adopted from a rescue organization. It was only three months old at the time. My golden retriever automatically applied to become a mommy.
Now the cat is over one year old, and the style of the house has become like this.
This is a very long post with pictures and texts. In fact, it is mainly to record her growth. I love her so much. Golden retrievers (in fact, no matter what kind of dog) are really like angels. If you love her and treat her sincerely, she will know. Patience and companionship are the most proud gifts that owners can give to their pets.
I will be due next week. I wonder if my big golden retriever will upgrade to become the mother of my son. Looking forward to a happy life for a family of seven.
